Cartomatics

Cartomatics is an applied science methodological discipline completely concerned with inventorying, analysis, and communication of information that has spatial characteristics.

What does a cartographer, a cartomatocist, do?

Well, very simply, a cartographer makes maps. A cartographer will:

  • identify the need for a map,
  • dream up or design a map,
  • design a project,
  • find the information that's needed to to prepare the map,
  • manipulate the information and put it in map form,
  • create the final graphics or assign the preparation of the final graphics to somebody else, a supporting technician
