I want to lay out in full why I think our universities, and indeed our entire higher education system, are struggling. The problem is not woke, political bias, or funding; nor is it that too few people can attend, or that the price is too high (though the latter is symptomatic).
The problem is that we have jammed our society's education and research institutions together with its credentialing systems. And the former is crumbling under the weight of the latter.
