Python IDE: Pyzo

Pyscripter was my fave for c.2012 but it stalled out for a period transitioning to py3. I started using Pyzo then and have stayed with it relatively consistently since. Mostly because of 3 features:

  • it’s very small and self contained
  • really easy to choose which Python environment to use, and
  • the Workspace explorer which shows all the variable values in real time

I’ve keep delving into full featured IDEs like VS-Code, Leo Editor, and PyCharm but I keep coming back to Pyzo for it’s high power to weight ratio.

That said, a quick look at current PyScripter pages shows it’s vibrant again and they’ve probably addressed the niggles that made me seek something else.
