Effectively leveraging unconscious thought

Breaks in attention give unconscious mind time to grapple with a problem. We usually make better decisions if shift attention away from difficult problems for a time. However, unconscious processes don't engage until we clearly and consciously define the problem. If we don't have a particular goal in mind, unconscious thought does not occur.
