I Love Hue game

January 3, 2020

http://i-love-hue.com/ a simple puzzle that hits me right where I like it: me puzzling about my own puzzler. The game has me constantly studying my own perception, watching for that place-moment when the puzzle piece finally fits, the consequent feeling of 'rightness', and abiding curiosity about the moment just before the fit-feeling arrives: all was in place, but the fit-feeling wasn't, and then suddenly it is.

This is probably the dopamine rush dynamic smart people talk about at play in all games that keeps us coming back for more. Something about the design and construction of I-heart-hue slows the process down enough to watch it unfold in real time. I like that.

It might not do the same for you (a couple decades of wrestling information and cartographic design at the intersection of perception and colour and shape predispose me to enjoy this kind of thing), but then again, it might.
